Speaking text with the DECtalk TTS Server

Once the TTS server is launched by the word macro and you configure it for the desired speaking voice, speaking rate, and with a User Dictionary file, you can have DECtalk speak selected sections of text from an opened file.

To speak text in a Microsoft Word .doc file:

Step 1

Select a range of text for DECtalk to speak. (3)

 

 

Step 2

Click the TTS Server button (2)

DECtalk speaks the selected text and displays the TTS Server dialog. (4)

Step 3

Press the Pause or Stop button if you want to pause or stop DECtalk as it is speaking the text.

Note: When you pause the server, all queued text remains queued up even though you deselect it in the Word document. When you stop the server, all queued text is
flushed from the DECtalk system.





If the server is not accessible, an error is returned.
